چکیده

The detection qualitative of Phytochemical compounds extracts was carried out using color reagents, total content phenols and flavonoids specified folin– ciocalteu aluminium chloride method, respectively, antioxidant activity determined through its ability to free radicals scavenging DPPH radical. efficacy the plant against pathogenic bacteria studied by agar well diffusion method with different concentrations, microdilution used measure minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) all extracts. results showed presence tannins, phenols, in both plants, while saponins were found aqueous only, cardiac glycosides coumarins absent Ethanolic extract Pistacia atlantica recorded highest as 263.76 ± 0.53 (mg GAE/g Dw) 46.83 0.55 RE/g Dw), respectively. While Pinus canariensis lowest 30.11 0.37 5.43 0.38 Both plants have been shown good activity, ethanolic P. best 90.27% ±1.51, most effective inhibiting especially at high concentrations (500 mg/mL); inhibition zone diameter reached Shigella boydii 33.56 mm, Pseudomonas aeruginosa; 21 mm. MIC ranged between 5.468 43.75 mg/mL depending on bacterial species. This confirms importance a natural source antibacterial confront problems increasing resistance antibiotics that threaten public health.

PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF Aginanthus brunneus EXTRACTS

Aginanthus brunneus is a specie of Africa mistletoe and is hemiparasitic in nature growing on many trees. Phytochemical screening showed the presence of carbohydrates, Alkaloids, Tannins and flavonoids. The ethanolic and aqueous extracts inhibited growth of Klesiella aerogenes, Proteus spp Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Gentamycin and Cloxacillin did not exhibit any activity against ...
